Castleford’s longest-serving writer joined as a rookie in 2014 and is now an Assistant Editor, having written for every possible kind of business, from technology firms to Arctic cruise companies. Travel writing remains a favourite, up there with writing about virtually any kind of sport – in fact Ben’s last two roles were Producer for Radio Sport, and Cabler for Sky Sport TV.
“During the English cricket tour of New Zealand 2012-13 I was selected to operate the hot-spot camera at Eden Park – moving it from end to end after each over. A major challenge was remembering to move it while watching the game, and frustratingly my camera saved the English batsmen on several reviews as they blocked out the test – I really wanted to just switch it off!”
Ben’s passion for writing is paired with a knack for numbers and systems, a skill that sees him take particular responsibility for Castleford’s Editorial production in the Auckland office. And after all this time writing, he still gets a kick out of seeing the benefit good content can make – especially for smaller players: “I still think it’s amazing that the content we produce can help small businesses rank better on Google. Often these business owners don’t have a lot of money, yet even the smallest content updates can make a huge difference to their bottom line!”
