How your company blogs can boost SEO
Company blogs have experienced something of a popularity surge over recent years, as it seems that every business that has something to say is doing so through an online blog.
However, blogs these days have far greater use than simply letting people know what's going on in a company – they can have real value in terms of search engine optimisation, or SEO as it is often known.
We take a look at some of the ways you can use your company blog to enhance your online presence, and perhaps even climb up the search rankings at the same time.
Create a keyword strategy
Just as you would with any other content strategy, it is essential that you come up with a set of keywords that you are going to target through your blog, its headlines and meta description tags.
Ideally these should be industry-specific, as this will help attract the traffic that is most relevant to your business and ultimately make consumers more likely to return time and time again.
Include internal links
Linking to other blog posts – or in some cases, external sources – can work wonders for your blog's SEO if done correctly.
Make sure you don't over-do things with your internal links, as this can have a negative impact on the readability of your company blog and deter people from returning for another look.
Make your content shareable
The more places your content is displayed, the better it is for SEO. In which case, you need to be encouraging people to share your pages through their own blogs and social media sites.
The best way to do this is to make it easy for them – create share buttons that will post the pages directly to the likes of Facebook and Twitter.
