LinkedIn celebrates 2m Aussie members
More than two million Australian professionals are now signed up to social networking site LinkedIn.
The website, which allows members to post their CVs, network with colleagues and build their company's brand online, set up a dedicated Sydney office in 2010 and recently opened a separate Melbourne office to help cope with demand.
Recruitment and marketing remain the site's key attractions in the Australian market, commented LinkedIn Australia and New Zealand managing director Cliff Rosenberg.
He added that the site's relationships with Optus and Vodafone Hutchison Australia have further boosted use of the site thanks to a deal in which some phone plan members are given free access to the LinkedIn mobile site.
“Given that we focus solely on the professional audience, this is a significant milestone for us," he commented.
Globally, LinkedIn estimates that around one million new profiles are created on the professional networking site each week. More than 100 million people are currently members.
