SMX Sydney – Post-show round-up
Last week, the Castleford team spent two days at Online Marketer / SMX Sydney at the Hilton Hotel.
It was a small and intimate affair from an exhibitor’s point of view, with the well-attended keynotes and Bootcamp seminars leaving the mix zone completely deserted outside of the breaks.
There were some big names on the speaker’s list. Our highlights were Search Engine Land editor Danny Sullivan; Rand Fishkin, CEO and founder of SEOMoz; and Marty Weintraub of aimclear.
Slide decks have already been made available for a good number of last week’s presentations. There are some great little tips in this one (courtesy of Rand Fishkin) about leveraging social media as a marketing tool.
We’re hoping to see Marty Weintraub’s slides from his Facebook Bootcamp session and Bruce Clay director Jeremy Bolt’s from his spot on SEO and usability.
The big hitters from the US helped to attract a well-informed group of delegates – they were in the most part either professional SEOs, website owners or marketing professionals.
Our speaking gig on the value of original content was part of Day One of the Online Marketer Bootcamp – a series of back-to-back SEO and PPC 101s. We had some great feedback on the session and will be circulating the slides later this week. In the meantime, take a look at this recent Digital Ministry article on content strategy, which provides a good introduction to the topic.
Overall, we met some really interesting people and caught some quality sessions. We’re looking forward to seeing the bill for Melbourne.
