Sydney business workshop focuses on social media

Does your company have a social media strategy in place?

With more and more people signing up for social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, maintaining an attractive online image is said to be one of the best assets a business can have in today's digital age.

Whether you choose to advertise or create your own professional profile, being present on social media is an effective way to boost brand recognition and could do wonders for your bottom line.

This is not to say that every business that creates a Facebook campaign is going to see an immediate change – however, it is important to employ a good social media strategy to get the most out of your online presence.

After all, as more people sign up, so do more companies – making it essential for you to learn how to stand out from the crowd.

To provide businesses with advice and direction, the City of Sydney is holding a workshop focusing on social media.

According to a finalist in 2011's City of Sydney business awards, director of Agent99 Public Relations Sharon Zeev, one of the tricks to effective social media marketing lies in posting quality information as opposed to quantity.

"I think the key with social media is to be very consistent and make it a slow build, particularly for a business. You don't want to overwhelm people with irrelevant information, you have to use it carefully," she explains. 

Ms Zeev also said that social media platforms have provided her business with an option that allows her company to engage with its target market in a way that doesn't break the bank.

"It's a very cost-effective channel, it gives us a better presence on the web and another opportunity to communicate with clients," she said.

The workshop on social media is being held tomorrow (May 1) and later in the year there will also be seminars on data strategy and the benefits of selling your product or service online.
